The inspiration: heart-themed paper straws found at none other than Target. Their bold simplicity inspired the palette and style of this fête. A simple red heart cut from poster board serves as a classic backdrop, while a metallic vase filled with daisies sets an ’80s tone. Let’s talk about the food…

As you know from our previous post on ’80s Valentine’s Day Style, I’m trying to pick a motif for an upcoming Retro Foodie event: a 1980s-themed Valentine’s Day dessert party. The first look played up the “glam” with crystal hearts, rose petals and champagne. In an over-the-top sort of way! Check out our first mood board here. Today it’s all about a style we like to call ’80s Cute–geometry, hearts, bright colors, dessert-like motifs and more! We couldn’t imagine a more appropriate theme for a party that celebrates the 1980s and sweets. But we’re equally drawn to ’80s schmaltzy glitz a la crystal and roses…

These are the ingredients for a romantic weekend in the Poconos if pictures tell the truth. In what can only be described as a blogger’s dream, I accidentally came across today’s retro-fabulous pictures while researching an article on 2-seater bathtubs for my awesome Decoist gig. Yes, all of the pictures for today’s post are from Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts. And from the looks of these pics, they haven’t been updated since the early ’90s. The same seems to be true of the rooms. Pure design bliss!
