What does “living in the ’80s” mean to you?! I have some fun fall blog content on the way in the coming weeks, but before jumping head first into a new season, I wanted to highlight some of my ’80s design favorites.
Today I’m kicking off a new decade of blogging by launching Camp Mirror80. Whether you’re stuck at home or venturing out on a regular basis, chances are life as we know it is going to look different for awhile. Enjoy an immersive experience that will surround you with ’80s style and a comforting TV favorite!
As we’re less than a week away from Season 3 of Stranger Things, it’s time to kick the countdown into high gear! If you’re reading this after watching Season 3 and you’re looking to revel in a big dose of retro fun, this post is also for you. Hawkins, Indiana is ready, and so is Mirror80.
Maybe it’s the upcoming premiere of Stranger Things’ third season…doesn’t this summer feels like the perfect time to dive back into the ’80s?! It’s that giddy feeling of waiting for the season’s biggest blockbuster, and filling the time with your very favorite things while you count down the days.
During the holiday season of 2016, Saturday Night Live featured a song-filled video titled “The Christmas Candle”. The premise: an out-of-season peach candle is “re-gifted ’round the world in just one day.” This video inspired today’s candle swap, complete with retro-style candles that channel the ’80s and ’90s!
Welcome to Mirror80’s Thank You for Being a Friend-sgiving!!! Because there’s no other way to host friends this Turkey Day. Taking inspiration from The Golden Girls (is there any other ’80s sitcom to reference for this holiday?!), the ambience is part tropical and part glitz, all capped off with a warm glow.
Ready for more Golden Girls style?! Today’s post is dedicated to the breezy, ’80s Deco look of Rose’s bedroom. Lots of rattan and a sprinkling of pastels give this space beachy style. I’ve played up the light, coastal look to create an updated version of the space. Keep reading for details…
Anyone else been watching a LOT of Golden Girls on Hulu?! I’m soaking up every episode and taking in all of the amazing interior design. One of the most comforting sets is the Golden Girls’ kitchen. That beige wallpaper, those Chippendale chairs…the ever-evolving array of tropical tablecloths! Time to see if we can recreate the look in our homes with the help of retro-modern decor.
The perfect blend of comfort and mystery. That’s what it feels like to revel in the interior design of a movie or television series set in the 1980s. Especially when the story involves an other-worldly element, such as the extra terrestrial in E.T. or the alternate dimension of Stranger Things…
Now that I’ve finished binge watching Netflix’s much-anticipated new series Stranger Things, I’ve been passing the time by….reading about Stranger Things, re-watching key scenes, and planning the viewing party concept featured in today’s post! Inspired by the incredible performance of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, this build-your-own Eggo bar is the perfect way to watch a series that pays homage to some of our favorite ’80s films.
