My Christmas decorating style has changed quite a bit over time, and for the last couple of years, it’s been all about the bright colors. I’m also a huge fan of mixed metallics, so my dining room is home to a trio of tabletop trees in shades of silver and gold. Here’s how it all came together in a modern take on retro decor…
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to check in one more time with some design-worthy Thanksgiving ideas to put you in a fall mood–with a retro twist, of course! First up: a collection of wall hangings that put a modern spin on ’70s style. Above (left) we see the beginnings of a wall hanging I created for Decoist using nothing but yarn and a copper pipe! My inspiration: the unique fall floral wreath from Design Love Fest (above, top right) and these fabulous yarn banners from Creativebug (above, bottom right).

Happy Monday, Everyone! As I’m wrapping up the finishing touches on my bedroom makeover (stay tuned for plenty of photos next week), my attention is now turning to the living room. There’s just enough “stuff” in this space to make it functional, but I’m needing to add a few more pieces that will complete the look. There are two possible directions I can take: ultra-bright, or colorful with a dash of swanky. I’m a bit stumped! Happy Friday! Do you have a wish list? I’ve started keeping one, not even for the purpose of acquiring everything on it, but to help track my favorite new design finds with ’80s flair. Many are super affordable, and for those that aren’t, if I really keep tabs on these products, I can score a couple of them for amazing prices when they go on sale. Other times, I decide to make my own version of my wish list items, DIY-style.
