Happy Friday, Everyone! When the end of the week comes, I really feel like going into “escape” mode. Today we escape into the world of swanky ’80s interiors, thanks to my favorite new Tumblr DRY DOCK SHOP. Seriously–have you checked out this Tumblr, folks?! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It does for ’80s interior design what 80s ART does for the art of our favorite decade! The images are sourced, the featured interiors come from the best magazines and design books of the ’70s and ’80s, and the catalog is comprehensive. Really comprehensive!
All of the images in this post come from DRY DOCK SHOP. So who runs this Tumblr? Believe it or not, not only does DRY DOCK SHOP meticulously document retro-fabulous interiors, they build furniture and interior spaces. Here’s a blurb from their “About” page…
Inspiration comes from childhood – the aftermath of the 70’s and the early 80’s. Wood paneling. House plants. Macrame. Split-levels. Plastic laminate. Bulky HiFi.
Already this is good!!!!
Although today’s featured images are of the swanky nature, they represent just one of the many styles showcased by DRY DOCK SHOP. You’ll find grids. You’ll find ample interiors featuring slanted wood paneling. You’ll find ultra modern interiors filled with ’80s art, like the one below!
I’ve spent quite a few hours on this Tumblr rounding up design ideas for my house. And many more hours of browsing are in my future. Thank you, DRY DOCK SHOP!
Have a great weekend, Everyone…

Hey, just to say I ADORE your website. I want to ask you if it is possible to make a post about all of the books you get the inspiration from and relate to the 80s in one way or another.
Keep up the fantastic work that you do, Kate. Thank you so much xxx
