Have you noticed the recent pastel, geo and marble trends? Yes, they’re everywhere. But before you dismiss them as passing fads, we need to celebrate one key fact: all of these trends have brought ’80s interior design to the forefront. This is a BIG DEAL! When I first started Mirror80, 1980s fashion was huge. But 1980s interior design was nowhere to be found. Except if you could afford the really high-end stuff. Now that ’80s motifs and colors have hit the mainstream, we can all enjoy them in a new way!
Let’s start by featuring the pillows of ferm LIVING. At the top of the post, we see selections in black and white, set against a geometric pastel backdrop. Above are a few geometric- and marble-patterned finds. They are (clockwise from the top left) the Teepee Quilted Cushion in Mint, the Marble Cushion in Rose, the Marble Cushion in Dusty Blue and the Teepee Quilted Cushion in Rose. Now let’s turn our attention to some ’80s-fabulous bedding below…
Anyone else notice the amazing duvet covers and pillow shams Urban Outfitters is currently offering? Candy colors and geometric motifs are on display here, as well as a nod to Memphis-Milano design. Above we see a set of Let’s Sail Away Pillowcases by Leah Flores for DENY (left) and the Assembly Home Pattern Block Duvet Cover (right).
We end with some pastel and geometric offerings from CB2, like the hexagonal Intermix Pink Plate and the pastel-hued Roundish Mini-Bowls. I’m minutes away from ordering the bowls for our next Retro Foodie photo shoot!
