Happy Friday, Everyone! I’m excited that I have a lot of time to devote to Mirror80 this weekend. I’ve been thinking about ways that I can move forward with the blog, and you’ll see that reflected in my weekend plans below. Also, thanks to the Twitter account of original MTV VJ Nina Blackwood, I learned about an exciting miniseries that will be profiling the 1980s… That’s the fun thing about weekends. Sometimes they inspire you to take a look back at the past while planning for your future. Have a good one, everybody!
THIS WEEKEND I PLAN TO…
Update the Mirror80 Tumblr and Mirror80 Pinterest account. I have some amazing images ready to post, and I’ve been waiting for an extended block of time to go to town. Bring on the weekend! One of my favorite Tumblr activities is incorporatign screen shots from the websites of visual artist Rafaël Rozendaal. Have you seen his amazing work?! Two of my favorite sites are Colorflip and Towards and Beyond. At the top left of the montage above, we see a screen shot from the latter. Pretty amazing, don’t you think? Directly below it is an image of Alexandra Von Furstenberg’s Trillion Acrylic Side Table (from the Mirror80 “Lucite” Pinterest board).
Watch National Geographic’s new minseries called The ’80s: The Decade That Made Us. Yes, there’s really an upcoming 3-day miniseries about our favorite decade! And it starts this Sunday night! Visit National Geographic for all the details, including a trailer, as well as a TON of amazing pop culture info. in the “Explore More” section at the bottom of the page. Check out a screen shot from the trailer at the lower right of the montage above. This seems promising…
Expand Mirror80’s DIY section! I’d love to feature New Retro DIY projects on a more regular basis. At the bottom left of the montage, we see some ripped paper from this DIY project. I have a plantscape in the works, but I’m looking for other ideas. Any suggestions?…
Revel in ’80s Geometry. Yes, I’m also planning yet another feature on the angles and curves of ’80s vases. Anyone else think I have a problem over-collecting these pieces? This post will feature some decor tips for a specific color scheme inspired by one of my favorite ’80s movies. Stay tuned for details…
Dust off my flat-beaded necklaces and go out on the town! It IS the weekend, after all! And it just so happens that I realize I’ve neglected my collection of flat-beaded necklaces from the 1980s (aka coin beads, lentil beads, etc.)… Time to figure out how to incorporate them into my spring fashion, especially since I’ve collected some new colors in the last couple of years.
