Today we spotlight an ’80s trend that has found its way back into our design vocabulary: black marble. After the 1980s, many black marble finds were dismissed as the stuff of bachelor pads or Vegas bathrooms. Think again, folks. Today we’ve gathered a range of black marble furnishings to fit a variety of price points. We start high with the 1970s black marble coffee table above, available for $2900 through Metro Retro Furniture. The cylindrical base and marble top give the piece its modern form. She’s a beauty!

Next we have the Boca Dining Table from Nuevo, available at Modern Euro Design Furniture. A stainless steel frame supports the black marble top. This contemporary piece, shown below, is $1359.

For a similar look but in coffee table form, check out the Farah Black Marble Top Coffee Table by Furniture in Fashion. For around $465, this piece can be the glistening center of your living room. On a side note, check out the matching end table for a more affordable option.

We end with a glossy find that is cost effective and eye-catching. The Chunky Marble Effect Coffee Table, also from Furniture in Fashion, is made of wood with a marble-like finish. While faux finishes can easily go awry, this one plays up the dramatic shine that makes the piece so ’80s fabulous! For a mere $140, this sold find can really fill a room!

We think it’s only a matter of time before black marble is back in chain store favorites like IKEA. Until then, let the internet and its wide array of online furniture retailers be your guide… Happy Monday!

These black marble pieces are so classy yet bold. The bathroom of the house I grew up in had a brown marble bathroom, and I’ve always loved marble. It seems that marble has suddenly become popular again over the past year or so, but white marble in particular. Marble is featured in so many new kitchens and bathrooms now, it seems people have forgotten about granite. Which is why I love Mirror80 – it’s about liking a particular style, rather than what everyone else likes at the current moment 🙂
