Hi, Everyone! Can you believe it’s almost 2014? What are your New Year’s Eve plans? My hubby and I were thinking of throwing a party… But over the course of the last month or so, we’ve dealt with our fair share of chaos, including a car accident and a surgery. So going out to eat, then coming back home to toast the New Year in a low-key fashion sounded just right to us this year. But that didn’t stop me from staging a Retro Foodie photo shoot in honor of the upcoming holiday. And this vignette will also work for an awards show party (hey, the Golden Globes and the Oscars are on the horizon). So read on for all the details…

A Retro New Year’s Celebration

Greetings! I’m in the midst of planning this weekend’s Retro Foodie photo shoot. It’s a New Year’s celebration–with an ’80s twist. The plan is to incorporate lots of silver and gold, as well as a hot shade of teal. For an accent color, what would go better with teal than mauve? But we’re updating things a bit with one of today’s hot blushing colors: rose gold. Hints of pink will be evident in details like truffles and a signature champagne cocktail I’m perfecting.
