Today I’m starting a new series on the blog! Each week I find myself wanting share interesting articles, art projects, new products and more. So… I thought I’d round them up and present them to you! Today I’m sharing a tour of my living room! Over the last couple of years, I’ve posted tours of my home office, bedroom, kitchen and dining room. In fact, it’s almost time to share updates of some of these spaces, as I tend to change the look of my home a LOT. For now I’ll focus on the living room, which is a mix of retro and modern styles…

Pastel power! In the ’80s, pastels were anything but limited to kids’ rooms. In fact, they were a popular choice for living rooms. Think pink and purple sofas, ceramics in soft hues, and lots of pillows.
One of the most affordable ways to add retro style to your home in through sand art, rocks and minerals. While buying them from specialty shops isn’t always cheap, there are online sellers who offer affordable specimens, and I’ve found that estate sales are a great place to hunt them down!
I wanted to take some time today and check in with all of you. Since the start of the new year, I’ve been making an effort to include more original photo shoots here at Mirror80. I’ve rounded up some of my favorites below. It goes without saying that every week I’ll continue to post lots of original design photos from the ’80s (many of them from my favorite 1980s design books). But I want to know what you’ve enjoyed in terms of original shoots. What are your favorites?
Let’s kick off the week with a collection of 10 photos from the 1980s that celebrate dramatic lighting! I recently purchased The Lighting Book by Deyan Sudjic, and I highly recommend it. Published in 1985, the book is packed with design photos, as well as helpful info on ’80s modern lighting.
