In honor of fall’s arrival, today I’m sharing some of my favorite Mirror80 posts…and giving you a sneak preview of what’s to come in the next couple of months! Keep reading for plenty of fun fall project ideas, lots of retro-modern styling, and a little taste of autumn!
A Hint of Halloween
Actually, this is more than a hint of Halloween! Because I’m kind of obsessed with Halloween. Remember last year’s neon frosting shoot? October is all about enjoying sweets and treats (just for fun!), before things get a bit more reflective for the holidays:
This year I’ll be sharing a recipe based on a favorite ’80s junk food. It will be easy to prepare and perfect for Halloween. And I just might organize an ’80s horror movie party, because if you’re going to snack ’80s-style, you’ve gotta turn up the retro fright factor, right?! And of course, I’ll be showcasing the ’80s style from one Halloween movie (any ideas what I should tackle next?), complete with many screen shots. Stay tuned…and until then, remember this cocktail from last October?
Ready to talk pumpkins?! In the fall of 2014, I shared 3 retro-modern pumpkin centerpiece ideas, including the bright orange pumpkin on the marble geo background below:
Earlier in the week, I kicked off fall with this pumpkin painting project inspired by terrazzo patterns:
For more fun painting ideas, check out last year’s pumpkin post, which brought Memphis style to produce with the simple squiggle of a paint pen!
You can even make a hanger for it and display your pumpkin the way you would suspend a potted plant! Details here:
Retro-Modern Style
Whatever this season brings, you can be sure that fall 2016 at Mirror80 will be filled with ’80s design posts profiling your favorite retro trends. Like mixing patterns:
And of course, there will be plenty of retro-modern fall project ideas on the blog. Each year I enjoy creating a fall tablescape. Last November it was all about geo style:
This year’s table is already in the works! Can’t wait to celebrate the new season with all of you. Until then…Happy fall!
