Got any favorite Instagram accounts? Today I’m sharing a few of mine. By no means a comprehensive list, these selections represent an established and emerging retro-modern design voice that Mirror80 couldn’t be more excited about. Check out the suggestions that follow, and then leave a comment telling me about YOUR favorite Instagram accounts to keep up with. Seriously, I’d love to get a conversation going. And now, without further ado…
Atelier Vladimir Boson
The Instagram account of Atelier Vladimir Boson is packed with photos from the upholsterer’s showroom, beauty shots of fabric that’s to die for, and plenty of ’80s-style illustrations. It’s a colorful design-fest! Need I say more?…
Camille Walala
“Forget Disneyland kids, welcome to my beautiful world,” Camille Walala’s Instagram account reads. And beautiful it is! From the graphic artist’s impeccable New Memphis style to her playful, bold mural creations, Camille Walala knows how to reinterpret the past with a modern style that’s all her own.
Yoko Honda (Yokopium)
Whenever I post any of Yoko Honda‘s original illustrations on the Mirror80 Facebook page, the post explodes with likes! So why wouldn’t you follow Yoko Honda on Instagram and get a daily dose of retro-modern design goodness?! You know her designs when you see them. Which is why we all want to keep seeing more of them…
Retrophilia.86
When I began blogging 5 years ago, Lena of Sweden-based blog Retrophilia was one of the very first people to reach out to me and offer support. And loads of ’80s design inspiration! Her Instagram account is filled with photos of her ’80s-style abode, her latest thrifting finds, and her new original illustration endeavors.
Hopper and Space
Oh Hopper + Space, how we love your beautifully designed original furnishings, as well as the way you curate a perfect collection of 20th-Century treasures for your London-based webshop (from Midcentury finds to Latecentury pieces). It makes sense that we’d be crazy about your Instagram account as well!
80s_deco
Remember when Mirror80 featured the Memphis-meets-Deco home tour of Neal Miller and Meg Gustafson? Well this is Meg’s Instagram account…and it’s pretty darn retro-fabulous! Lots of ’80s interiors, as well as snapshots from Meg’s life (and home). And if you like what you see here, be sure to check out her 80s Deco Tumblr!
Mirror80
Yes, it’s a shameless plug, people. The blog has an Instagram account. It’s a blend of old and new, and many of my still life-style photos find their way into the mix. My obsession with plants can also be spotted. From ’80s ads and movie stills to snapshots from my retro-modern interior, the photos will hopefully give you a unique window into the world of Mirror80.

What a totally awesome blog! I was in high school during the 80s and was absolutely smitten with the total departure from the siennatoned 70s. It’s great to see new younger designers rediscovering Memphis Milano. Cheers!

Jen, your comment truly made my week! Thank you so much for your kind words. As someone who enjoyed the ’80s the first time around, it’s been fun seeing the decade’s style return through a new lens. Cheers to you!
