So many plants, so little time… Today’s post is dedicated to 1980s interiors decked out in greenery. Plants were one of the biggest trends in interior design from the Decade of Decadence. Not to mention, plants were a big deal in ’70s design, and houseplants are experiencing a HUGE revival as we speak. Let’s face it: plants are timeless! Ready for a closer look?
Above we see The Renaissance Hotel in Austin, TX. Remember when I took you on a tour of this ’80s-built hotel back in April? They’ve made various renovations in recent years, but I’m so glad they haven’t touched this plant-lined marble staircase with brass detailing! Check out more photos here. Below we see designer Perry Ellis’ New York City brownstone via Tumblr drydockshop. The glass, the wood, the windows…retro perfection!
Next we have another image from drydockshop (please check out this Tumblr if you haven’t yet given it a look)! The image originally appeared in Planning & Remodeling Kitchens & Bathrooms from 1988. Clearly this is another book I need to track down.
