This week I came across the glass creations of John Hogan, and my mind was blown. Viewing his pieces takes me to another place–and I’m just talking about the photos of his works! Seeing them in person would be ideal, but nonetheless, I wanted to showcase a few pieces from this talented Seattle glass designer and artist who evokes an aesthetic that somehow channels a bit of the past while propelling us into the future…
There are no words, right?! As someone who loves science fiction (especially time travel themes), I am very drawn to Hogan’s work–it just speaks to me. And I’d love to have a glass display case filled with it! Want to learn more? I enjoyed reading this Sight Unseen article, which notes how Hogan’s pieces celebrate the optical quality of glass. And of course, I spent quality time on the artist’s website, which is filled with amazing images, including photos of the J/K series created in collaboration with Irish artist Karen Donnellan.
And let’s not forget how I originally learned about the work of Hogan–through his ATLAS lighting collaboration with Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. I’ll leave you now to dream of gridded cubes, crystalline prisms and other dimensions…
