Happy Saturday, Everyone! I wanted to share a few snapshots from my holiday decorating endeavors! My Christmas decorating style has changed quite a bit over time, and for the last couple of years, it’s been all about the bright colors. I’m also a huge fan of mixed metallics, so my dining room is home to a trio of tabletop trees in shades of silver and gold. Here’s how it all came together in a modern take on retro decor…
This is the first time as an adult that I’ve ever lived in a place large enough to fit a non-tabletop Christmas tree! Even so, my hubby and I picked a narrow silver pencil tree. We love the lean look of it, we really don’t have a ton of ornaments to fit a large tree anyway, and with this approach, we didn’t have to move our kitty’s favorite chair to incorporate a huge tree. Why interrupt his nap time?!
About the ornaments… Affordable blue and silver glass balls cover much of the tree, but I’ve also added a collection of ornaments gifted to me by my mom throughout my teen and early adulthood years, plus a few newer pieces (like the CB2 finds at the top of this post). The ornaments below had been packed away after somehow being viewed (by me, shamefully) as out of date. Until I realized they perfectly complement the whimsical Memphis-meets-modern look of my living room. Time to let them shine!
I still have my metallic tabletop trees, as you can see below:
In fact, the “gold tree” below used to be white. No, it’s not vintage. Definitely less than 10 years old! I was pretty horrified when it started changing color, but now I love the retro look, even more than when it was bright white. I decided to play up its now-golden tones with affordable ornaments in shades of rose gold and brushed gold. Just go with it, right?!
The metallic tones are on display in our dining room, while the bright ornaments shine in the living room. Here’s another snapshot of the vibrant fun:
