Happy Friday to all! What’s on your agenda for the weekend ahead? I seem to be blissfully stuck in a whirlwind of color and geometry. It’s all I can seem to write about, and I can’t stop myself from brainstorming DIY projects and shopping endeavors involving vivid hues and bold shapes. Check out the links below for some colorful geometric fun with an ’80s twist. And have a GREAT weekend! Here’s what’s on my agenda for the next few days:
1. Plan Mirror80’s 3rd birthday! Yes, folks, it’s already been 3 years! To commemorate another great year of blogging and to open up the possibilities for more vibrant posts, I will finally be upgrading my camera… And the first event I plan to photograph is a small shindig celebrating Mirror80’s 3rd year and upcoming 4th. For the look of this little event, I’m inspired by colorful ’80s design and the festive vibe of certain ’80s modern pieces. At the top left of the montage above we see artwork by George Green from the Tumblr 80s Art. Viewing all of this geometry is getting the party ideas flowing… Cupcakes featuring geo-scapes with the help of edibles like gumballs perhaps? [gumball image above from Old Time Candy]
2. Plan next weekend’s DIY wall mural project. There’s a room in my home that needs a little attention… We recently moved, and this space in our new place has been completely neglected. I intend to fill one of the walls with a mural, likely one created on a painted wooden board, then secured to the wall. Maybe it should involve geometric blocks, like the GRIMM’S Triangle, Square, Circle Wooden Blocks above from Baby Naturopathics. And if you’re looking for more artistic inspiration, check out the Thisissand app for making digital sand art. [sand art image below the gumball pic is from Bored Blog Almighty]
3. Do a little shopping. Yes, I still have that Etsy gift card. I’ve been way too busy to do anything about it. And I’m very hard to fit, so every time I try to buy vintage clothing online, I run into trouble. BUT… I won’t give up! And there’s always the fun of accessories, like the 1980s Leather Handbag above, from Etsy shop Retro & Me. And if you’re wondering about the image at the bottom left of the montage, it’s an ’80s revival scarf by Mark Andersen! [image from TREND HUNTER]

For that neglected wall in your home, let us not forget the larger than life image of Billy Idol that Demi Moore’s interior wall sported in “St. Elmo’s Fire”. Just sayin’. ^_-
