Happy Monday, Everyone. Hope your weekend was fun and relaxing! Mine was both chill and productive. As you can see from the image above, I’m starting to plan this year’s Christmas decorations, and you can bet I’m drawing inspiration from the 1980s. I’ll be hosting a Christmas shindig that features 80s-style holiday decor and sharing the pics with you at the beginning of December. If the crazy-early Christmas decorations at retail establishments have already put you in the holiday mood, check out some Mirror80 pics from Christmases past.
As you can see from the image below, I watched Footloose this weekend. Both the remake and excerpts from the original (which I’ve seen a million times). I was actually kind of impressed with the new version, which managed to keep the best parts of the original…
I knew from the preview that Ren’s skinny tie, black converse and yellow VW Bug would take center stage, but I did not expect authentic touches like dancing feet in the opening credits, songs like “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” and “Almost Paradise,” and a confetti-filled conclusion with many of the original dance moves. But after all these years of watching Ren’s famous angry dance scene, I can’t help but wonder: what are uneven parallel bars doing in an abandoned warehouse?
Do you like the day-glo fish below? Guess what? They’re real! On Sunday I came across an article that features these fluorescent babies, which are making quite the impression at an aquarium show in Taipei, Taiwan. We think their presence on the Mirror80 Tumblr is inevitable.
The expected cost for the fish: over $3,400 each! I guess that’s understandable, given that they took more than three years to engineer. And they glow without the help of a black light. Hope your week is off to a colorful start!
