Sometimes the power is in the details… That’s certainly the case with the glass accents featured in today’s post. For example, nothing says ’80s like etched glass, especially when floral motifs are involved. Believe it or not, the picture above is not from the 1980s! In fact, this carved glass/divider screen is a custom project from La Mancha Glass Gardens, available through Custom Made. Separating the kitchen from the great room in this featured space, the 4-panel piece is even more awesome when you add a curved glass table and circular bowl to the mix, don’t you think?!
Speaking of awesome, let’s look at some ’80s pics now! These gems come to us from Ugly House Photos, whose tagline reads “Phoenix Area Homes With Clutter, Ugly Décor, and Bad Taste.” Fun, right?! In fact, this blogger is super knowledgeable about interior design and architecture throughout the decade, making Ugly House Photos a true pleasure. Even better: we think some of the ’80s-style homes featured have elements that are more rad than ugly! In keeping with the etched glass theme above, we now turn our eyes to the image below, which features Art Nouveau-style shower doors.
What’s another 1980s motif we love here at Mirror80? Swans!!! Which is why we wouldn’t remodel the bathroom below (OK–maybe the wooden cabinet doors, but definitely not the shower)…
It’s clear that may of the homes featured on Ugly House Photos simply haven’t been remodeled since the 1980s. And why would you touch the dining room below?! ; – ) Another stellar glass detail: the right angles in the chandelier! In fact, this piece may as well be made of ice cubes, and we love it!
We end with one more glass-tastic photo, this time featuring mirrors. The diamond motif in the piece over the sofa could not be more fabulous. It certainly overshadows the not-so-hip details below, giving an overall direction to the space. Especially when you add the glass coffee table. Hey, we think gold and brass are making a comeback!
Thanks for joining us today as we reveled in ’80s glass. A special thanks to Custom Made and Ugly House Photos for the inspiration. Happy Tuesday!
