Spring is in the air, and geometric clothing reminiscent of the ’80s is in stores, most notably at Forever 21! Some of this geometry channels a tribal vibe, such as the ’80s Southwestern look. Other shape-filled tops remind us of childhood and its playfully bright forms. And we can’t forget the way geometry can channel the future, or at the very least, a modern feel that manages to be retro at the same time.
Take the shirts above, the Retro Geo Tie Tee and the Cosmic Trapeze Tank, both available at Forever 21. They may as well have been Def Leppard album covers! Which is why we love them…
Below we have two bold geometric tops in red. The Geometric Print Tank (left) has Memphis Group motif undertones while managing to be completely contemporary. The Tribal Crop Tank (right) is a cheeky update of ’80s Southwestern style.
Now we turn to the nostalgia of childhood. How can we resist the Ditsy Hearts Racerback Tank (below, left), which channels the heart-filled sweaters and stickers of the ’80s, or the Contrast Geo Tank (below, right), which reminds us of the puzzles and video games of our youth?
All of the women’s fashions above are from Forever 21’s Heritage 1981 collection. But don’t think we’ve forgotten about the guys… The men’s tees at Forever 21 bring a modern edge to ’80s design . Take the Geo Pattern Tee (below, left), which adds a splice-y effect to traditional ’80s Southwestern patterns. Then we have the Abstract Grid Tee (below, right), which manages to revive all things tribal and all things digital at the same time!
Somehow Forever 21 has done it again by infiltrating another spring collection with touches of the ’80s. Not that we’re complaining… Have a bold Wednesday!

I have the tank top that’s in the first pic on the right. I may be 57 years old, but I love Forever21!!!!!! I also don’t look or act my age.
