Remember that feeling of walking into a bank as a kid? The marble floors, the potted plants, the metallic railing… Or passing through the lobby of a classy hotel, with its dramatic wall sconces and cylinder tables? This week Mirror80 asks, “Why not bring the lobby look home?” We began by tapping into the sleek wonder of the BBC’s Pebble Mill Studios, as shown in Tuesday’s post featuring a performance by Nick Heyward. Today we recreate ’80s Lobby Chic using contemporary finds:
We start with a KIVIK sofa and chaise lounge in Dansbo beige from IKEA. To bring the elegance of marble into the room, we included a smart round marble top coffee table from CB2. A Low Round Cylinder Base from Table & Top continues the cylinder theme in side table form.
And now for the metallic accents… On the cylinder base rests a Graceful Table Top Sculpture from DCG Stores. Progress Lighting Contemporary Wall Sconces in metallic gray from LightingDirect.com flank a two-toned HÖNEFOSS mirror from IKEA.
What lobby would be complete without greenery in an shiny planter? We selected a Chinese Fan palm from Ficus ‘n Fern. To top it all off, a series of throw cushions from Pillows&Pillows.com add a steely gradient to the palette.
Something missing? Don’t worry–there’s always room to add a contemporary bowl of individually wrapped mints to complete the lobby vibe…
