Apparently you always find what you’re looking for after the fact. True to form, shortly after posting this past week’s blog entry on ’80s decorative items with iris and lily motifs, I came across this amazing iris-themed vase at my favorite local Goodwill. And boy is it pink!
This is the second vase I’ve found with its supposed contents plastered on the outside of the container. Which is kind of like finding a fruit bowl decorated with lemons and oranges. Either way, it works–I find the cartoony lines and blatant use of pastels to be a bit shocking (gasp!), but ultimately more interesting than gaudy.
In fact, I think I’ve made up my mind to collect these contemporary floral vases. I have a theory they’d be striking in a group. I’ll post the photos once my collection is complete! Maybe ’80s pastels CAN be edgy…
