If you’ve noticed a new wave of unicorn-themed DIY projects, you’re not alone! When it comes to consumables, there are some seriously crazy-amazing unicorn milkshake recipes out there, topped off with sculptural candy creations for the ultimate sugar rush. This one is lower on the candy content but higher on the ’80s style. Because this is what happens when you attempt to turn a rainbow unicorn sticker into a drink…
The Rainbow Unicorn Milkshake
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk (less milk=a thicker shake)
food coloring
rainbow sprinkles (jimmies)
rainbow sugar sprinkles
sugar pearls
1 candy stick in bright colors
*this recipe serves one
Start by wetting the rim of your glass and rolling it in a mix of rainbow sprinkles (jimmies and sugar sprinkles create a dreamy combo). Now mix the milk and ice cream in your blender, then pour it into a glass. Here comes the fun part…
Squeeze one drop of food coloring onto the top of your shake (or go with a couple of different colors–your choice). Use a toothpick, skewer or other food-safe tool to stir the milkshake, creating a swirl. I used neon food coloring for more vibrant hues. Top off your drink with sugar pearls and a unicorn horn…er, a candy stick!
Now enjoy the rainbow deliciousness! If you’re serving this drink to kids, you may want to skip the sugar pearls, as they harden a bit in the ice cream. You don’t want any chipped teeth! Here are a few more photos of the radiant fun…
Cheers to that! Stay tuned for a fun summer ahead, including LOTS of ’80s design photos, a look at the 1984 movie Splash, and a mermaid-themed dessert. XOXO, Kate

Looks yummy!!! However, with 2 diabetics in the house, have to find some sugar-free alternatives. ETA–I’m not one of the diabetics, thank goodness!!
