The style of today’s playlist is not to be confused with Britpop…we’ll save that ’90s genre for another post! Instead, journey to England in the 1980s, where Nick Heyward (shown above) roams the streets with an instrument case, and it’s always a good thing when you can share a split-screen close-up with the likes of Dave Wakeling. Ska and janglepop make an appearance on the playlist, and large ensembles of musicians ham it up against stark white backdrops.
There’s a dreamy vibe to this music. Get swept up in the humor, the melodies, and the lack of polish these videos exude. I mean that in the best possible way. Check out the full playlist on YouTube, and be sure to subscribe to the Mirror80 channel for more great ’80s mixes. Enjoy!
