Hope everyone’s week is off to a good start! Today I’m sharing a few more snapshots from behind the scenes here at Mirror80. If you live in the US, are you getting ready for Thanksgiving? You may recognize the photo above from our recent post on creating a modern fall table. One behind-the-scenes tidbit: I painted the canvases on either side of the wall hanging. I’m still tweaking them, but it’s been a fun process, and I’ve worked on them as I’ve had time this fall.
I also recently styled a Thanksgiving table for Decoist. The theme is “affordable and decadent.” I created the centerpiece using a $4 bouquet of grocery store flowers, then filled in fun details like metallic candleholders. Definitely more traditional than retro, but above and below are some images from the shoot, and you can see the end result here.
In other news, it’s been home improvement central around our house. First up: foundation work. So our yard was filled with neon flags and spray paint to mark the underground wiring. Sorta festive, in a construction zone kind of way…
And then came my quest to find the perfect shade of aqua so I could paint an accent wall in our spare room. I’m going with a Memphis-Milano vibe in there, and I’m really happy with the decision to use aqua as a backdrop color.
I also started my holiday shopping, and of course, I keep finding items that I want to put on my own wish list! In fact, I ordered these drink rocks from CB2 so my husband could give them to me for Christmas–ha! But I’m not using them for drinks. I think they’ll look fabulous in a geo vignette on my bookshelf.
Will you be doing any holiday decorating this weekend? Me too! It’s hard to believe that soon the pumpkins will be replaced by colorful ornaments and other fun items. If you’re looking for an easy, last-minute Thanksgiving decoration idea, check out my tutorial for these DIY Pumpkin Hangers:
Anyone else having a hard time juggling work stuff and holiday stuff? I keep falling asleep on the couch at night with the cat. Without changing into my pajamas. Without finishing my work. So if you’re tempted to ask me how I balance it all, clearly you can see I don’t. 😉
Wishing all of you a relaxing Thanksgiving and a festive start to the Holiday Season!!!
