Happy Halloween week! Instead of rounding up our favorite Mirror80 posts from the last month, we’re rounding up a batch of our favorite Halloween ideas. Some of them were created, styled and photographed by Mirror80, and some are the work of design bloggers we admire. Read on for lots of retro-modern inspiration, from Memphis-Milano pumpkin decorating techniques to some sinfully delicious recipes for your Halloween junk food binge. Enjoy!
Ready to decorate some pumpkins? Try taking a paint pen and drawing Memphis-style markings all over a white pumpkin (as shown at the top of the post). Check out our Mirror80 pumpkin painting tutorial for all the details. Another fun idea? Decorate white pumpkins with hand-cut strips of gold washi tape for a confetti look. The pumpkins above are the work of Homey Oh My!
Celebrate the hanging planter trend by substituting a pumpkin for the potted greenery. Make your own DIY Pumpkin Hanger using Mirror80’s easy tutorial. Now turning our attention to food, it’s hard to imagine Halloween without pizza. Instead of opting for orange and black decor, introduce some pastels into your pizza party decor, as shown below by this Pastel Pizza Party from Random Acts of Pastel:
Jazz up ordinary frosting with neon food coloring and decorate yourself some ’80s-style cookies! We created a few easy neon cookie decorating ideas that are perfect for a Halloween party (or a movie night in).
If you’ve been a Mirror80 reader for awhile, you probably know that we love a good Halloween milkshake! Which is why we were thrilled to find this Devil’s Delight Milkshake from StudioDIY. Chocolate, peanut butter and pretzels make an unbeatable dessert combination:
Finally, don’t forget the art of the Halloween cocktail. Here’s a recipe we came up with: Pomegranate Brew. It couldn’t be easier to make, and you can give it a retro vibe by displaying your punch bowl, pitcher and barware on marble tiles purchased at a flooring store, as shown below. Note: we don’t recommend serving food directly on the tile.
Wishing you a festive Halloween filled with retro-modern style!
