In fact, today’s post features some pretty amazing Florida real estate photos, from a condo building with unbelievable tropical landscaping to some glam interiors that look like something right out of Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia’s home. Mirror80 thanks you for being a friend, and we also thank Skylar Strickland, a 1980s design expert who sent us these modern photos with retro style. Tropical Exteriors
One thing you’ve gotta love about Florida: the tropical greenery that flourishes everywhere you look! Many homes and buildings are surrounded by lush palms and a myriad of other interesting plants that will forever be synonymous with ’80s style. Above and below we see exterior shots from The Mayfair condo building in Boca Raton. Anyone else feeling the urge to install a grand water feature?
Somehow this next shot reminds us of the opening credits of The Golden Girls, when overhead images of Florida fill the screen. Tennis, anyone?
And we couldn’t finish our exterior portion of the post without a landscaped path and street view that make us wish we would rub shoulders with Dorothy as she returns home after a day of substitute teaching.
Who wouldn’t love coming home to this?! In the next section we’ll head inside and check out some picture-perfect interiors.
’80s-Fabulous Interiors
Let’s talk about the kind of ’80s interior design featured in The Golden Girls. Rattan furniture was a living room standout, as were floral patterns, tropical prints and plenty of beige tones. And let’s not forget the vases and indoor plants! While the girls didn’t live in a high-rise condo, this photo channels the creamy tones of their home. And you’ve gotta love the 1980s lighting and that mirrored wall:
Wallpaper. Yes, wallpaper! The banana leaf wallpaper in Blanche’s room matched her comforter, and while this space features a different pattern, the botanical motif and matchy-matchy element definitely evoke Golden Girls style. And check out those ’80s Deco lamps…
Did someone hear us say “banana leaf wallpaper”? Looks like this could easily have been Blanche’s bathroom. The black and white combo: so glam!
Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia’s home was filled with vases and straw-colored arrangements. This bathroom may as well be in the Girls’ home, considering the ’80s Deco floral statement. And the wallpaper!
Here’s one more ’80s-fabulous bathroom, this time with vanity lighting around the mirror! Note the cream tones and the fabulous acrylic chair:
Finally, who’s up for drinks on the lanai? OK, this may not be the just like the lanai on The Golden Girls, but it definitely captures that breezy Florida vibe.
