Today we’re thrilled to spotlight the work of Rafael de Cárdenas, founder of Architecture at Large, a resource for design vision and execution focused on residential and commercial interiors, architecture, furniture and integrated objects. Stunning color and bold geometry are key qualities of Architecture at Large pieces and interiors. We can’t help but see undertones of 1980s Memphis-Milano motifs!
Above we have the Tri Bench from the Pickled Series (left) and the Console from the Blue Meets Yellow Series (right). Simple, colorful museum-quality pieces!
We now turn our attention to the commercial spaces designed by Architecture at Large. Check out this photo of the O.H. W.O.W. bookstore in New York, complete with a pixelated black and white tile floor. Note the metallic zig-zag designs on the aqua walls, as well as the Deco meets modern stair-step shelving outlines!

We end with an image from the Unknown Union menswear store in Capetown, South Africa. Exposed fluorescent tube lights and multicolored shelving units in a fade-out finish can’t help but channel the ’80s…
