My Little Pony Gallops Into ’80s Fashion

My Little Pony Week continues at Mirror80 as we celebrate these delightfully bright collectible toys manufactured by Hasbro since the 1980s. Originating as larger “My Pretty Ponies” in 1981, the MLPs took on the classic ’80s form and size we know and love beginning in 1983 and had a 10-year run in the US. After an attempt to revive the Ponies’ popularity in 1997, a global relaunch occurred in 2003, when they were reintroduced to kids and have been popular ever since!

When many of us think of My Little Ponies, we picture rainbows, sparkles and the lost days of colorful wonder. Well yearn for those days no more! Why close the door on nostalgia when you can include a dash of My Little Pony color and sparkle in your daily wardrobe? With the help of some friends from Etsy, Mirror80 brings you pony and product pairings that will knock the socks right off your hooves!

Let’s begin with the images at the top of the post, which prove that the glitter and shine of a My Little Pony’s mane can be yours at the earlobe!

The Pony: Princess Royal Blue, offered at Daughter and Company, an Etsy shop full of My Little Pony treasures!

The Product: Vintage 80’s Hot Pink Glitter Earrings, offered at Alii~ah’s Garden of Creativity!, which features many bright handmade jewelry selections.

There’s Something About Berries…

Strawberry Shortcake wasn’t the only berry-glorifying ’80s toy! Meet Sugarberry and see how her look can be yours:

The Pony: Sugarberry, offered by Loveable Finds, an Etsy shop spotlighting vintage toys, games and books!

The Product: Vintage 1980s Red Berry Belt, offered by Pinup Dresses, a great source for beautiful vintage dresses and accessories from the ’40s through the ’80s.

Glittering Hearts

Glittering hearts bedazzle a pastel pony like this shiny pastel heart-beaded necklace bedazzles the neckline:

Rainbow Radiance

Now the rainbow magic of My Little Ponies can be close to your heart…

The Pony: Sky Dancer, offered by Chatty Budgies, an Esty shop displaying (beautifully photographed!) My Little Ponies for sale.

The Product: Over the Neon Rainbow resin pendant, offered by High Strung Bead, which features an assortment of vivid handmade resin jewelry.

A Touch of the Tropics

The colors of a tropical sunset are celebrated on a palm tree-tattooed pony and a palm tree-themed shirt.

The Pony: Pina Colada, offered by Ponies of Doom, a wonderfully named Etsy shop that  features a wide array of colorful new and vintage items, including ’80s toys!

Product: Vintage ’80s Bahamas T-Shirt, offered by Kasi Found This Vintage, a carefully curated collection of vintage clothing and items, many from the ’70s-’90s.

A Jolting Bolt of Style

Who says lightning never strikes twice?:

The Pony: Firefly (another gem from Chatty Budgies).

The Product: Eighties Bolt Skirt, offered by Schmoo 1515, a collection of vintage goodies including clothing, jewelry, accessories and other quirky finds.

A special thank-you to my Etsy friends for making this post possible! We hope you enjoyed these My Little Pony and Etsy product pairings. We can’t help but find them magical!

Stay tuned for our final My Little Pony Week post, which will combine Pony style with ’80s pop singers…
