Known for their space-age videos and electronic melodies, British synthpop band A Flock of Seagulls were equally notorious for their hair and fashion choices. Which makes sense given lead singer Mike Score’s previous career as a hairdresser. In this video for 1982’s “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You),” he sports his most notable do, as well as some awesome spacewear.
The special effects may seem lo-fi by today’s standards, but in my book, any video that aims to merge a love song, a spaceship setting, and a mid-song montage that may as well feature an extra from Saturday Night Fever twirling in front of excerpts from an episode of Nova is more than OK in my book.
