One look at the bedroom of cartoon character Jerrica Benton (a.k.a. Jem), and you get the sense that she singlehandedly forecast the glamorous Hollywood Regency interior design revival of today. I mean, come on… an upholstered headboard, a lattice-print rug, and a cabriole-leg chair painted white and recovered in eggplant fabric?! It doesn’t get any better than this! We think Kelly Wearstler and Jonathan Adler would agree. So Mirror80 took on the challenge of recreating Jem’s bedroom using today’s furniture and flourishes. We hope you like the result!:
While purple and coral may not be the ideal palette for every whim, we think Jem’s choices are decadently fabulous! Here are the items that helped make this cartoon dream a reality:
We’ll start at the top left with the Skyline Furniture Tufted High Arch Headboard in Lilac from BedroomFurniture.com. The lavender on lavender effect is completed with a Laura Ashley Solid Lavender Quilt Set from BeddingStyle.com. A dash of silver adds some glam and glitz to the mix, courtesy of this Glow Silver Throw Pillow by Dania.
A French Antique Small Table in White from Chic-Furniture.com is charmingly elegant, especially when topped with a Contemporary Koen Table Lamp in plum. This illuminating piece from Lamps Beautiful provides a modern twist on the ceramic lamps of the ’80s. The eggplant Jules Leleu Chair is an authentic Art Deco piece from Modernism Gallery.
A coral Medina Rug from Soft Surroundings adds a Moroccan vibe to the room, a fun update of Jem’s classic lattice carpet. And you can’t forget a potted palm, although I must admit that this image comes to us from the virtual world of the Second Life Marketplace. For the real thing, head to IKEA!
Thanks for joining us on our quest to duplicate Jem’s stylish cartoon room. May your day be as animated as our illustrated heroine…
