Happy Wednesday, Everyone! This will be the first of several posts featuring the mind-blowing creations of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, the Seattle-based design studio founded by Dylan Davis and Jean Lee. We love the way their pieces celebrate the magical pairing of bold geometry and powerful materials such as metal, marble and mirrors. The offerings: home decor, lighting, jewelry and more. And speaking of jewelry, there’s nothing like a good geo necklace!

’80s Art Picks: Sophisticated Style
A suit and tie. Red lipstick. A city skyline. Sophisticated imagery was everywhere in the ’80s, not only because it reflected key elements of the era’s yuppie culture, but because it evolved along with 1980s Deco style. In fact, when shopping for ’80s art, you just might find that you’re able to mix and match works of varying styles when they all share a chic feel. ’80s Deco prints, cosmetic ads and certain Neon Noir posters can all coexist in harmony. In our second edition of ’80s Art Picks, we focus on the finer things in life. Enjoy!
On Learning to Recharge…
Happy Monday, Everyone! This past spring, Mirror80 started a new series that celebrates the creative process. Many of you have written in and shared information about your own creative projects, and it occurred to me that a lot of us are in this together–living a life that includes a heavy dose of creativity on a weekly, daily or hourly basis. Our first post in the series (titled “On Creativity”) gave a little bit of background on Mirror80, then asked all of you to get involved in the dialogue. We then focused “On Making a Fresh Start” and the ways that a few changes can take creativity to new heights. Today we take a look at the power of recharging…
A Memphis-Milano Exhibition in Memphis, Tennessee
If you’re searching for a summer trip destination, we highly encourage you to visit Memphis, Tennessee. We’re calling it Memphis in Memphis. Why? Because until July 13th, Memphis’ Dixon Gallery and Gardens is hosting an exhibition titled Memphis-Milano: 1980s Italian Design. Featuring the extensive collection of photographer Dennis Zanone, this exhibit includes the work of designers like Ettore Sottsass, Marco Zanini and Nathalie du Pasquier.
’80s Art Picks: Abstract Pastels
Happy Wednesday, Everyone! Today we kick off a new series called ’80s Art Picks! Every couple of weeks, I’ll be rounding up my favorite selections from sources such as eBay and Etsy. The focus: interesting, affordable pieces currently for sale. I love heading to Goodwill and other thrift stores for my ’80s art finds, but sometimes it’s nice to look for exactly what you want online and order the artwork of your dreams with the click of a few keys. Today’s theme is abstract pastel art from the 1980s.
Re-Making the ’80s: Halt and Catch Fire
If you’ve been reading Mirror80 over the past couple of weeks, you’ve probably figured out that I’m a bit smitten with AMC’s new ’80s tech series Halt and Catch Fire. Kate here, and today I’m sharing more design inspiration from the show. Last week we revealed our top reasons to watch, and this week I’m zoning in on the way series creators have meticulously re-made the 1980s, from the interiors to the fashion!
