Greetings! I’m in the midst of planning this weekend’s Retro Foodie photo shoot. It’s a New Year’s celebration–with an ’80s twist. The plan is to incorporate lots of silver and gold, as well as a hot shade of teal. For an accent color, what would go better with teal than mauve? But we’re updating things a bit with one of today’s hot blushing colors: rose gold. Hints of pink will be evident in details like truffles and a signature champagne cocktail I’m perfecting. Retro Holiday Style
Happy Monday, Everyone! With last week’s surgery behind me, I’m now officially ready for the holidays! Stay tuned for some fun blog posts in the coming days, from the Mirror80 Gift Guide to a book release from one of our favorite ’80s insiders. I thought I’d start the week by sharing some pics with you. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at my place, and I’ve had fun decking the halls and the walls with retro-style decor that complements the space. Geometric art is abundant in our living room, so we wanted a tree with bright ornaments that celebrate the whimsy of ultra-colorful ’80s design. We enjoyed creating a timeless modern look that fit our home…

When it sinks in that I’ll be on the operating table tomorrow, I’ll be watching this Weird Al Yankovic video for a few laughs…

An ’80s-Style Thanksgiving
For November’s Retro Foodie shoot, we present a berry-toned palette with bright pops of orange. I recently gathered my parents and hubby for a pre-Thanksgiving light lunch–some quiet before the bustle of Turkey Day begins. With one of my favorite ’80s art pieces as the backdrop, I designed a table that incorporates cool tones, autumn hues and some authentic 1980s decor. Read on for more details…
A Very ’80s Thanksgiving Palette

Celebrating with the entire family is an amazing experience that I would never give up, but it’s also fun to take some time with friends, or even smaller groups of family members. Fall dinner parties are one of my favorite endeavors, and today we dream up an ’80s-style Thanksgiving palette for our next Retro Foodie photo shoot. Use it for Thanksgiving dinner, or for a smaller gathering of loved ones this fall! Read on for more details…
