'80s-Reminiscent Decor From CB2

While we at Mirror80 love to speculate on the return of ’80s design, some would say it’s already back! From museum retrospectives featuring Memphis-Milano furniture to a growing number of collectors hunting for original 1980s fine art, the interest in a full-blown revival is there. But it’s also fun to note the number of mainstream pieces that have an ’80s look or mix well with decor from our favorite decade. Today we scan the offerings of popular retailer CB2 to find eye-catching items with the power to bring a hint of the 1980s home to roost.

Let’s start with the images above. 1980s Deco pieces referenced Art Deco design with a streamlined shape, often rounded. The Ernest White Bar Cart (above, left) may as well have been a Miami Vice set piece. Remember the pixelated world of ’80s video games? Now it can live on your floor. Check out CB2’s Pixel Rug (above, right).

These acrylic nesting tables are clearly modern, and their soft edges channel the curved furniture of the ’80, some of which was made of lucite:

We can’t talk about 1980s decor without unveiling the chrome. When you put this towel rack in your bathroom, you’ll be wishing for those shiny black countertops that graced many an ’80s bachelor pad:

Clear plastic containers in tiered sizes were all the rage for children of the ’80s. In fact, you can still buy the rectangular, rainbow-hued variety at The Container Store today. For a chic upgrade, try these Format Storage Boxes in black and red:

A little white lacquer can bring the ’80s to your living room. Conceal your belongings in the Hide n’ Seek Storage Shelf, but make sure this glossy piece gets a prominent spot in your space:

For the record, the fun doesn’t stop at CB2… You’d be surprised at the number of ’80s-reminiscent designs that find their way into the aisles of mainstream retailers. The mirrored furniture at Target and the boxy sofas of IKEA are two examples of how you can bring the 1980s home on a budget. Don’t stop believing!
