Hanging on the wall behind my dining room table are two 1980s serigraphs by artist Brian Halsey. They were a gift from my dear friend Jeff, originally on display in his father’s office during the ’80s. You can see glimpses of one Halsey serigraph at the top of this post. Colorful ’80s Design!
Lately I’ve been obsessed with colorful ’80s design. I’m not necessarily talking Memphis-Milano style here, although there certainly is some overlap. I’m thinking of those contemporary homes of the 1980s that featured white walls, hardwood floors, and an abundance of radiant accents. Modern art, geometric motifs and glass block were a few signature staples of this style, as was a confetti-inspired festivity that looked good enough to eat.
