Happy Monday–today should be a colorful one! A new week brings new possibilities, so I’m sharing Mirror80’s latest photo shoot. It’s a blend of Memphis-Milano style and sculptural totem forms, and I’m calling it Stackables. For awhile now, I’ve been creating tabletop totems at home. My favorite items to use in stackables: vases, bowls, and dollar store items (such as ping pong balls, rubber band balls and other sporty items).
A Few Styling Snapshots…
Hi there! Today I’m posting a few snapshots from some styling projects I’ve worked on for clients. I’ve been trying to branch out into styling and photography (to accompany my writing) for my freelance gigs, and I’ve really been enjoying learning more about my camera, as well as getting tips on how to maximize lighting, set up a shot, and more. I will continue to learn and soak up the process, but here are some photos from projects I’ve completed since the first of the year…
Teatime, Retro-Style
Happy 2016! For Mirror80’s first photo shoot of the new year, I was inspired by teapots and product photography from the 1980s. So let’s hit the ground running with some colorful new images of teatime, fully stocked with retro and current items that can’t help but exude ’80s flair…
Checkered Tile and Geo Forms
Today’s post is purely for fun! If you caught Mirror80’s recent roundup of retro interiors with checkered floors, you know that geo objects, vibrant colors and surreal elements were often set against the backdrop of checkered tile in the 1980s. I got a little bit inspired by the photos (see all of them here), and I decided to snap a few pics using items from my bookshelf and display cabinet. I love arranging geo objects, and I collect flooring tile to use in decorative vignettes. Here are a few of my current favorites…
1980s Still Life Photography
When I purchased The Mary Gilliatt Book of Color last month, I knew I’d be getting a slew of amazing interior design photos…but I didn’t count on the monochromatic still life photography! With the current still life revival still going full force, it’s fun to see what actual still life photos from the 1980s looked like.
Still Life Style: Plant Play and ’80s Colors
Happy Monday! I got some new plants this weekend so I could finish my current gardening projects, and before I arranged them in their containers, I decided to have a little bit of fun… Who can resist some still life styling on a fall morning?! I sure couldn’t. Throw in some art paper in ’80s colors and mineral samples, and the photo shoot was complete. Lots of plant play in today’s post. Enjoy!
Still Life Style: Colorful Objects
Today Mirror80 presents a special edition of Still Life Style, highlighting a collection of simple colorful objects that create still life magic when combined. In my living room, I keep an IKEA glass display case that serves as a canvas for my rotating installation of still life vignettes. I’m a big fan of simple, easy-to-find materials, as well as vibrant colors such as blue, red and yellow. Below you’ll find a few snapshots of my favorite objects and combinations…
