Reflecting on recent retro style
Well, it’s been a minute!
This year we’re keeping our “Thanksgiving table” simple with a fall picnic and fresh food.
A post on learning to run the race, even if you’re still figuring it all out…
Today’s post is about pasta. And unpredictability.
Halloween is almost here! Halloween is almost here! Today’s post is dedicated to the ’80s goth experience. There’s lots of music video magic to enjoy (plus a fun project and a snack idea), so get ready to escape.
Happy Halloween season, Everyone! Since we’re a little over a week out from the big day, I thought it was time to update the ’80s Halloween playlist I created two years ago. While this collection of music videos leans New Wave and a bit goth, there’s a little something for everyone in the mix…
It’s back-to-school season… The good news: you’re never too old to revel in the magic of ’80s campus movies! Everyone went back to school in the Decade of Decadence. Whether you were a spazz, a dork, a geek, or Rodney Dangerfield, you had a shot.
This ’80s/’90s Chillout playlist overlaps a little bit with Mirror80’s ’80s Sophistipop playlist, especially with selections like Swingout Sister’s “Twilight World”. If you’re a fan of all things New Order, you may recognize the photos in this post as a nod to cover art from Bernard Sumner’s side project with Neil Tennant and Johnny Marr: Electronic.
The holidays are almost here, we’re getting ready to feast…it’s just a decadent time of the year, am I right?! So I thought this was the perfect time to share another music video playlist. This one is PACKED WITH DECADENCE, from the golden set of Simple Minds’ “Glittering Prize” to the food-heaped table of INXS’ “The One Thing”.
It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a playlist, so today it’s all about retro summer fun! In some cases, the summer playlist vibe comes more from the videos than the songs, so get ready for some ’80s beachy style…
That was an ’80s video?! You may ask this very question after viewing some of the selections on today’s playlist. Others may evoke specific memories of the ’80s, but I’m sure you’ll agree that the songs themselves are timeless. I’ve been thinking about this playlist for quite some time, collecting tracks that could hold up today alongside current tunes…
The style of today’s playlist is not to be confused with Britpop…we’ll save that ’90s genre for another post! Instead, journey to England in the 1980s, where Nick Heyward roams the streets with an instrument case, and it’s always a good thing when you can share a split-screen close-up with the likes of Dave Wakeling.
I have my friend Kris to thank for inspiring today’s music video playlist. After he suggested Billy Ocean’s “Loverboy” for the Valentine’s Day mix, I watched the video for the first time and decided that it should star in its own sci-fi playlist! So here it is…
So Valentine’s Day is kind of a crazy holiday, right?! If you’re in love, awesome! If something’s off, not so awesome. Here’s a solution: dance it out. That’s why I created this Valentine’s Day playlist!
