At last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, Katy Perry wowed audiences with four different ensembles. Our favorite? The 1980s Memphis Design-inspired get-up pictured above. Mirror80 has previously blogged about this geometric wonder, a showpiece of Christian Dior’s Fall-Winter Haute Couture Collection and a reference to the Memphis-Milano movement that colorfully swept the ’80s, featuring high-end originals to mainstream knockoffs.
It should be no surprise that the ensemble would grab Perry’s pastel-loving attention. Rather than sport the strappy wedge sandals from the Dior show, the pop star donned boldly-hued Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Candy-toned hair added another dimension to the fashion, replacing the need for the dramatic makeup displayed by the Dior models (above, right).
The verdict: An “award show”-worthy adaptation of runway look.

I like it lol, wish I watched the VMA… She could use some crazier makeup, though 🙂
