Today I’m sharing an easy recipe for a mint shake with a boozy twist. Creme de menthe is the ingredient of choice, and this minty liqueur also gives the milkshake its signature hue. Since mint and pink are two of this season’s “it” colors, you can play up the pastel palette when you serve this drink with a kick. Read on for the super-simple recipe and more fun photos…
Ingredients:
- 1 pint of vanilla ice cream
- 4 tbsp creme de menthe (green rather than clear)
- 2 tbsp vodka
- milk or half and half to add a creamy texture (I used 1/4 cup half and half)
Add the vanilla ice cream, Creme de Menthe and vodka to your blender and mix away! If you love a thick milkshake, skip the milk. If you want to add a creamy texture and make this milkshake picture-perfect for 2 people, add milk or half and half (up to 1/4 cup is a good amount, but it’s all about personal preference). Keep in mind that half and half is creamier than milk, so you can get away with adding more to stretch your drink.
Let’s talk about garnishes. Obviously, a sprig of mint gets the job done. But so do fun sprinkles! In fact, they add a Memphis-Milano quality to this shake, don’t you think? But if we’re really being honest, it’s hard to beat chocolate sprinkles. There’s just something about the crunchy chocolate bits and that cool mint!
The vodka is optional, and if you decide to leave it out, you may want to add a tad more creme de menthe. Top it all off with a patterned straw, and you’re set…
While I had fun using a pink carnation to style this shoot, I wouldn’t recommend putting it in the shake. This beverage is perfect for the pastel palette of spring (and the Easter season).
But you can also serve it up for St. Patrick’s Day and call it a shamrock shake!
Hope your Wednesday is a delicious one… XOXO, Kate
