Happy Monday, Everyone! Just wanted to share a few projects I’ve been working on lately. As you can see from the photo above, today’s post is all about color…with a dash of tropical style. I’ve been spending a LOT of time outdoors working on DIY projects these past few weeks. There’s nothing like spring to inspire creativity! Read on for some snapshots of fun ways to infuse your home with colorful design this season…
Last weekend I found some plain woven baskets at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, and I decided to transform them into modern geo gift baskets. By adding some felt to the bottom of each basket and wrapping the handles in mint green yarn, a fun pastel update was created. Perfect for Mother’s Day or any other gifting situation! Read more about the project (which I created for Decoist) here.
Confession: when my allergies are acting up or the weather is gross, I walk at Target. Yes, I’m a Target walker! My husband and I always shop there after we walk, and to be honest, I often get sucked into buying more than I would have, because I spot some pretty amazing items each time I do a lap. These bowls are my latest obsession. Available in colors like mint, hot pink and orange, they’re super lightweight and super-duper affordable. Plus, they’re the perfect colorful addition to a shelf or tabletop. I can’t seem to find them on the website, but unlike Target’s latest Lilly Pulitzer collection, these bowls still seem to be on the shelves:
This weekend I had fun crafting a tropical terrarium with materials like air plants, aquarium gravel, coral, and those little drink umbrellas that can’t help but channel a beach vacation:
I also got a little carried away arranging the small supplies into patterns and still life vignettes! Check out the full project (which I created for Decoist) here!
Hope your week is off to a colorful start!…
