Lately I’ve been looking back at past Mirror80 posts, and certain ’80s style elements continue to emerge. I thought I’d write a few new posts about specific 1980s aesthetics, and one that I can’t seem to get enough of is the lobby look. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been obsessed with hotel and bank lobbies, and the Decade of Decadence was an amazing time for this marble-, glass-, and brass-infused design. It’s equal parts swanky and chill. With a bit of bling, as reflected in the new artwork above (Trian Gold and DecO CintUra—from the Society6 shop of Simona Sacchi.)
Getting lost in the ’80s lobby look is surprisingly easy. Here are some ways to create a decadent experience. Start by doing yourself a favor and hitting “play” on this Spyro Gyra song (or this one…or for something more up-tempo, this one). Got some chill tunes going? Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN is another gorgeous hotel filled with plants, fountains, and waterfalls. It opened in 1977.

I’ve always been obsessed with all the small things the 80s were made of, even if I was too young to really enjoy it at the time, but I had this nostalgic feeling and your blog is all I’ve always wanted to find ! Especially that I’m french and I don’t think there was this 80s touch we can heavily feel in US or England, so thank you so so much for synthetizing all the aesthetics and atmospheres I love !
