Today I’m sharing a super-easy way to decorate Easter eggs with retro-modern flair. All you need are medium- or large-sized plastic Easter eggs and the stickers of your choice. Check out the sneak peek below, and for a full tutorial, head on over to Decoist. Ready for a closer look?…
I purchased the eggs at Target and found the stickers at my local craft store (Michael’s)—the brand on the sticker packaging is “Recollections”. The puffy dots were perfect for creating shapes like the triangle shown above and below.
Anyone else obsessed with still life-style patterns? I love fruit motifs, so I was thrilled to find pineapple stickers for this project. As you can see from the impromptu pattern I created below, these stickers are puffy:
If you’re going for more of a 2-D look, I would not recommend puffy stickers. The puffy dots were easy to work with, but the pineapples required a bit of glue to really adhere to the eggs, as their long shape and raised surface made them likely to pop up, especially along the curved form of the egg.
With that said, I still loved the result…
My favorite design involved a ring of pineapples around the middle of the egg. Just make sure not to cover up the line where the egg opens and closes!
I’ll be giving out these eggs to family members on Easter. Until then, I’ve had fun styling them with the help of metallic shred and a vintage marble urn. The eggs with the dots are currently on the shelf of my home office. I used a little roll of tape to help each one stand up vertically, and the eggs add a fun modern splash of color to the space.
