Feeling crafty? Today I’m sharing a sneak peek of a DIY project I created for Decoist: a hanging vase that puts a modern spin on the hanging planter, thanks to a glass cylinder and some neon parachute cord! This project is super easy to create, and the finished product is the perfect place to display tropical greenery. Read on for more pics and details…
This DIY vase project was born from my need to bring tropical greenery into a low-light space. The lighting is so dim in my bedroom, I’ve been prevented from incorporating potted tropical plants. And if you love the ’80s like I do, you know how tropical greenery can add an instant retro vibe to a space! Since this project involves a vase rather than a pot, it’s super easy to keep fresh greenery alive, even in rooms with low lighting. And tropical leaves are super affordable (and long-lasting)! It’s a win-win.
The key to creating this hanging vase–knots! The look is a modern update on macrame, yet much easier pull off. Be sure to head on over to Decoist, where I share lots more pics, as well as clearly labeled steps for creating your own DIY hanging vase.
The best part is proudly displaying your vase–and of course, filling it with the tropical leaves of your choice! I’m a fan of palms and Monstera. Enjoy!
