On this second to last day of July, we’re looking back at our favorite posts from the past month. Kate here, and I’m happy to report that it’s been a month of creative inspiration, DIY projects and little trips to beachy locations. Not to mention, we celebrated our favorite television series of the summer with a viewing party concept that involves plenty of ’80s tech style. Join us as we reminisce…

Earlier this month, we revived our ’80s Connection interview series by checking in with photographer, artist, collection curator and Synthetix.FM blogger Rick Shithouse. Check out the full interview (complete with Rick’s amazing ’80s-style ad photos) here.
Last week I spent the day in San Antonio, TX snapping pics of tropical foliage. More fun pics in the full post.
This Sunday is the season finale of Halt and Catch Fire, a TV series that explores the early days of the PC revolution. Amazing writing and design, folks. Check out our viewing party concept for the show!
In mid-July, I headed to South Padre for a family trip. We found ourselves at Bobz World, the most awesome display of neon tropical retail design in Texas (and possibly beyond). Lots of mind-blowing pics, including the flamingos shown above.
Anyone else obsessed with the current still life revival? Lots of Memphis-Milano style and geo forms. Check out our full tutorial on how to create an ’80s-style still life of your own!
Another obsession of ours: geo necklaces. And it’s hard to beat the modern designs of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio!
Inspired by L & G Studio and Etsy designs, we created a geo necklace of our own. See the full tutorial here.
Thanks for joining us for our look back at July. Stay tuned for August at Mirror80…it’s gonna be hot, hot, hot!!!
