Mirror80 March Highlights

March 31, 2014 by Kate Leave a Comment

March montage

Happy Monday, Everyone! On this last day of March, we’re taking a look back at some of the past month’s top posts. We’ll call them our March faves. Did you miss anything? The last few weeks have been filled with plenty of ’80s design inspiration, a donut party, an interview that showcased one of our favorite record labels, and of course, plenty of fun at SXSW. Check out the links below for the full posts and lots more pics!

We begin at the top left of the montage above, navigating the images in a clockwise fashion…

The current pastel, geo and marble trends in decor have filled today’s retailers with some amazing pieces with major ’80s influences!

We’re a bit obsessed with malls built in the ’80s, and judging from your responses to our post on the beauty of an abandoned mall, it’s clear we’re not alone!

This March at the film portion of SXSW in Austin, TX, we had the privilege of seeing two movies with plenty of ’80s style. First up: Ping Pong Summer, which chronicles a teenager’s 1985 summer vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. Another fave: the Spandau Ballet documentary titled Soul Boys of the Western World (not pictured above).

We’re loving the work of Brooklyn-based photographer Richie Talboy, whose Memphis-inspired photo is featured above. See more irresistible pics here.

It was an honor to interview Alex Bouché, CEO and Founder of vinyl-only record label DX Seven. Check out this latest installment of our ’80s Connection series for more information on ’80s-inspired New Retro Wave music and the exciting year ahead for DX Seven!

See that dreamy star confetti above? It took center stage (along with some delicious donuts) at our spring Retro Foodie photo shoot. Our delicious March concept: a pastel party featuring coffee, sweets and snacks.

From perfume bottle sculptures to crystalline pedestals, we’re crazy about the ’80s-style finds at Acrylic Home Design.

Thanks for making March a great one–stay tuned for a retro-fabulous April, complete with the revival of our Style Icon series!
