For our second installment of ’80s Music Video Land, we shine the spotlight on ABC. The band’s music videos beautifully capture an upscale romantic vibe, a world in which characters enjoy the finer things in life while navigating the difficulties of love. Which is exactly what we love about “Poison Arrow,” a track from ABC’s 1982 debut album The Lexicon of Love. From lead singer Martin Fry’s beloved gold lamé suit to the sparkling rhinestones of the leading lady’s necklace (that’s restaurateur and Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Lisa Vanderpump!), the fashion in this video is dramatic. Much like the lyrics of the song. And don’t get us started on the interior design!
Speaking of the video, it’s time to take a look…
Now let’s take a look at some key items that celebrate the video’s signature style. Ready to travel to ’80s Music Video Land?…

You’re continuously posting my favourite videos! Fry is so suave here, his voice full of barely controlled emotion, the band providing some amazing instrumentation. An awesome song about hating someone you once loved, containing that odd ‘but I still like you’ emotional twist that life often throws out to really mess with our heads!

Thanks for the comment, Mark! I too am a HUGE fan of ABC and have been for years. And I couldn’t agree more about Martin Fry’s amazingly expressive voice. A truly great track about love gone bad. And as you’ve noted, the difficulty of fully letting go. Thanks again for the comment!
