Hi Everyone! It’s been a very busy few days, but I’m back and happy to start the week with a new post! This past weekend we celebrated Mirror80’s 3rd birthday. Each year I like to do something special to commemorate another year of blogging. The first year, I created a post featuring a few ’80s party ideas. For Mirror80’s second birthday, I started the Mirror80 Tumblr. For this 3rd year, I finally got a nice camera, so the pics should be looking a lot better from here on out! And of course, I threw a little shindig for our latest Retro Foodie post. Stay tuned for all the pics this Friday. Until then, here’s a peek…
You may remember this mood board and this Pinterest board, both of which had a huge influence on my look for the party. The theme: Confetti and Color! Lots of bright details helped set the tone, including the fringe-y garland and colorful balloons you see above. To the left we catch a glimpse of my party dress. This little number has been my good luck charm. I found it hanging at a Saver’s thrift store about six or seven years ago. I have a very hard time finding vintage dresses that fit, and many of my fashion thrifting endeavors are anything but productive.
Not only is this dress undeniably ’80s, it is an absolute perfect fit in every way. And I found a purse to match on that same shopping trip. I have worn this dress to countless events, and I was wearing it the night my husband proposed to me. I will never let it go! The accessories I pair it with have changed throughout the years. I’m a big fan of ’80s flat-beaded necklaces, and this red number is ideal for the dress. I also have a white flat-beaded necklace that reminds me of a cruise accessory. And when I pair it with the dress, I imagine the best ’80s cruise you can imagine (and I’m not a cruiser)…
Below we see a close-up of the dress fabric. Yummy, right?!
Stay tuned for more pics, decor and retro-style recipes this Friday. Hope your week is off to a great start!
