Who’s winding down for Thanksgiving? Or maybe winding up?… Yes, the holidays are about to kick off, and I wanted to check in and wish you and yours a great start to the season. Plus, I’d love to let you know what’s in store for the blog over the next month. Keep reading for details, along with a slew of decadent photos!
How has November been treating you? I won’t lie–the last month has been really difficult in my household. I tried extra hard to stay on top of “the basics,” such as well check appointments and expenses, yet there continued to be unexpected surprises, such as illnesses and extra doctor appointments. Plus other ridiculously random home repairs. In fact, there hasn’t been one “normal” week all month. Who’s with me? I’m definitely ready to unwind and basque in the festivity of the holidays.
So break out the confetti and pour the champagne! We could all use a little bit of decadence when we’re trying to recharge. Does anyone else use photography as a form of escape?! I’m all for anything that can rejuvenate me so that I can be more present in day-to-day life. Which is really what the holidays are about, right? Being there for the people we care about.
So what’s in store for Mirror80 over the next month? In short: a giveaway, an epic post about ’80s food, and a special holiday edition of our newsletter filled with retro design inspiration. And maybe some other fun stuff like gift ideas!
Until then, let’s revel in silver and gold. Gold confetti and silver fabric. Golden pears…
Silver stripes on Deco-style plates:
And apples that are golden with flavor and special seasonings! If there’s goat cheese involved, it definitely has an ’80s twist. And speaking of ’80s food, it’s been so much fun learning about the culinary trends of this fabulous decade. Got ’80s food info you’d like to share, such as special dishes you remember from your youth? Food styling trends in top restaurants? Menu design? Leave me a comment below.
Happy Holidays to you and yours! XOXO, Kate

Hey Kate! Just wanted to let you know that I LOVE your blog and have been reading it for some years now… perhaps old news, but Ikea sells some pretty 80’s looking (think Golden Girls style!) rattan furniture these days, especially their Mastholmen series (https://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/usearch/?query=mastholmen). Thought you might be interested 🙂

Oh my goodness, Anna! Thank you for this amazing comment, and my apologies for the late reply!! IKEA is one of my favorite destinations for ’80s-style finds, and that rattan furniture is fabulous! Thank you again for getting in touch, and for your kind words.
