Today’s post is a little reminder to make time for creative projects in your life. When I shot these photos, I was under the influence…of the Stranger Things soundtrack! If you haven’t yet watched this amazing “Steven Spielberg meets Stephen King” ’80s-set mystery/thriller, you’re in for a treat. To learn more about the look of the series, check out this post, as well as our Stranger Things viewing party idea. The soundtrack is nothing short of amazing. So sci-fi, in a synth-heavy, ’80s way. Listening to it made me want to do an other-wordly photo shoot…
I’ve been wanting to incorporate rocks, minerals and bold colors into a shoot for quite some time, so this was a true afternoon of play for me. Relaxed and free, with the soundtrack music in the background. It’s good to take a break from time to time and try a creative project just for fun. Without saying, “but I’m not a professional (fill in the blank).”
The colorful forms are AMAC plastic boxes. Remember them from this shoot? The pyramid and marble sphere are actually drink rocks from CB2. As in, you chill them, then let them stylishly chill your drink. I prefer to use them as objets d’art. And photo props! The rocks and minerals are part of my ever-evolving collection. Because you shouldn’t stop collecting the things you love after 2nd grade comes and goes. Thanks for reading! XOXO, Kate
