Holiday Snapshots

Happy Holidays! It’s been a whirlwind of activity here at Mirror80, as I’ve been styling a variety of seasonal shoots for clients, and I’ve also been decorating the house for Christmas. I thought I’d share some of the fun in today’s post, including a sneak peek at a new Mirror80 shoot (details on the blog Wednesday). Hint: it may or may not involve spiked hot chocolate. Let’s get started…

Red Christmas ornament

Above and below we see snapshots of our tall, narrow tree. My hubby and I lucked out and found this silver stunner online for a great price a few years ago, and it’s been the perfect shape and size for our space. We decorate it with a combination of childhood Christmas ornaments, new finds, and classic glass balls. Lots of color and whimsy!

In the dining room, I went with a mint and pink palette. This is a popular color combination for the 2015 holidays, and I’m kind of loving it! I started with a pink poinsettia…

Then my sweet Mom gave me a pair of mint glass ball ornaments, which I promptly put into goblets with a little bit of fake snow (see below). They work well since the wall of our dining room is a minty shade. Silver and gold tones are also scattered throughout the space. The candle holder below is from CB2 (along with half of my house–ha!):

The brass grid cubes on the wall below are also from CB2. A small silver tree and a series of bottlebrush trees are scattered across the top of the dining room shelving. Lots of mixed metallics and retro-modern style:

I usually wrap my holiday gifts a few at a time, and this year, I’ve gone Memphis-Milano with the paper! Here’s a Mirror80 tutorial featuring non-traditional holiday colors, and you can get all the details on the gift wrap below in this post, which I created for Decoist. Hint: everyday items such as copy paper and paint pens get the job done!

Here’s a sneak peek at Wednesday’s Mirror80 post, which features a super-easy recipe for spiked hot chocolate. Lots of holiday snacking goodness. And sparkle! Details coming soon…

And last but not least, here’s one final photo shoot I styled for Decoist. It features a DIY garland that couldn’t be easier to make! I used string and metallic crepe paper, but silver and gold ribbon will also create a similar look.

As you can see, I’ve been kind of obsessed with silver and gold sparkle this holiday season…

Stay tuned for more seasonal retro-modern fun this week. Thanks for reading!
