A New Memphis Roundup

November 3, 2015 by Kate Leave a Comment

Terracotta planter DIY from Design Love Fest

It’s a great time to be a fan of ’80s design, because the New Memphis movement is going full force. Creative designers and bloggers are producing many products and projects filled with Memphis-Milano style, but with a modern twist. Today I’m rounding up some of my favorites, including the Terra Cotta Planter DIY pictured above. It’s amazing how easy (and fun) it is to create these plant-filled works of art, and you can find all of the details at Design Love Fest.

Bedding and textiles from Cotton On

My friend Jonathan Lo of Happy Mundane recently pointed me in the direction of retailer Cotton On, and there are some fabulous New Memphis items in stock, including plenty of textiles in the “Kids Room” section (and they’re cool enough for grown-ups too). Then there are selections like the Queen Bed Duvet Set pictured above, and be sure to also check out the Set of 3 Potted Succulents, which features faux greenery in geometric-motif pots.

Neon grid party ideas from Oh Happy Day

Who’s ready for a party?! Party supplies are reflecting New Memphis trends, and this Neon Grid Party Idea from Oh Happy Day (pictured above) is the topic of a colorful post that’s filled with links to all of the retro-modern supplies, which you can find in the Oh Happy Day Party Shop. I get style inspiration from party supplies on a regular basis, so this post really fed my creativity!

Grid plate photos from CB2 and Paper & Stitch

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased CB2’s SAIC Origin Small Black Platter and SAIC Origin Cuatro Small Aqua Platter, shown at the left in the image above. I’ll be using them to create some fun holiday gifts for friends and relatives, and I’ve been brainstorming ideas for what to place in the trays. Then I found this DIY Pastel Candy tutorial designed by Paper & Stitch (see above, right). The design is filled with still life style. I’m considering doing something with soap for my gift idea…I’ll keep you posted!

Clothing from Plastic Bones

Last but not least, if you haven’t checked out the unforgettable clothing of Plastic Bones, you’re in for a treat! Above we see the Ribbon Bomber Jacket (left) and the Cloudy Cropped Sweatshirt and Navy Blue School Skirt (right). There’s a lot more where that came from, folks!

Hope your week is off to a great start!
