Don’t you love the current still life movement? If you missed our recent Still Life Style post dedicated to summer motifs, be sure to give it a look. It’s filled with amazing images crafted by top photographers, art directors and designers (like the photo above from Finell). Below we see an original Mirror80 concoction: The Neon Rita! This drink was part of our Last Sips of Summer series from 2014. For more fun drink ideas, check out our recipes for The Ginger Twist and The Mint Flamingo.
Want to escape from the comfort of home? Check out our post on “Florida glam” style with ’80s flair. We’re talking palm tree-filled courtyards, tropical walkways, and interiors that look like something right out of The Golden Girls:
As part of my summer trip last year to visit family, I discovered the tropical fabulousness that is Bobz World in Los Fresnos (on the way to South Padre). If these dolphins out front don’t serve as a ringing endorsement for this establishment, check out the full post for a view of neon sand, pink flamingos, and aisles and aisles of seashells, plastic wonders and other unforgettable beach souvenirs. You’ve gotta see it to believe it!
I featured this tropical party by Somewhere back in October, probably because I was still in denial that fall had arrived. There’s so much color to see in the photos, including lots of pool toys suspended from the trees!
For instant summer flair, do yourself a favor…find a fish figurine for a few bucks at a thrift store and give it a vibrant geo makeover. Super easy and super fun! In fact, this fish figurine makeover was one of my favorite DIY projects from last year, and the little guy has already migrated from my bedroom to my office because he looks great in every room of the house.
Speaking of bedrooms, it’s always summer in mine. That’s because I keep it fully stocked with tropical greenery, neon accents and ’80s artwork in hot pink and teal. See a full tour of the space here.
Here’s another summer party idea (this time a Mirror80 original), which includes an easy centerpiece created with a mirrored tile, drink umbrellas and a monstera leaf:
